Frankincense for Your Brain

My husband, Brad, has some family history of Alzheimers disease. Like many diseases, there are a number of preventive actions that can be taken to help your brain stay as healthy as possible, including exercising your brain and supporting its function. Frankincense is one of my absolute favorite oils - and is known as the king of essential oils!

Frankincense has a variety of uses and has been utilized for centuries, and was considered valuable enough to be given as a gift to Jesus Christ after His birth. It is known for its ability to rejuvenate skin, and to promote cellular health and immunity. Frankincense supports the central nervous system, and is great for emotional balance too. It can be applied on soles of feet, or base of skull. For older kids and adults, it can be taken internally – either under the tongue, or in a capsule and swallowed. Frankincense is also an amazing oil to help manage inflammation.

There are a number of oil blends that feature Frankincense such as Balance and InTune. InTune is a blend that already comes in a roller bottle, so it’s very handy. It contains Amyris Bark, Patchouli Leaf, Frankincense Resin, Lime Peel, Ylang Ylang Flower, Hawaiian Sandalwood Wood and Roman Chamomile Flower. Focus blend is designed to support focus and concentration, and mental acuity. It encourages optimal learning; while at the same time is very grounding and calming. Brad keeps a rollerball of InTune at work for when he needs to focus on work. An added benefit is that Frankincense smells amazing and promoted feelings of peace and relaxation - which is also great for overall wellness!

Frankincense is not just a brain oil though. Some of the fantastic uses and benefits of Frankincense include:

  • Add Frankincense’s aroma to any room in your house by making a DIY Room Spray! Start by getting an empty glass spray bottle and putting in 15 drops of Frankincense, 15 drops of Grapefruit, and 30 drops of Douglas Fir. Top off the bottle with water. You can then spritz this spray on carpet, furniture, or in the air of any room you desire.

  • One of Frankincense’s most powerful benefits is its ability to promote health, specifically cellular function. Try taking Frankincense oil internally by adding one to two drops in a Veggie capsule. This natural supplement will help support healthy cellular function. In fact, doTERRA even includes Frankincense in their highest selling supplements—the doTERRA Lifelong Vitality Pack!

  • Apply Frankincense topically to help reduce the appearance of skin imperfections

  • Treat your hands and feet with a Frankincense oil massage! Add a couple drops of Frankincense to your feet and hands and massage the oil into your skin. This massage will give you a soothing and warming effect... it's even better if you can coerce someone else to give you the foot massage

Frankincense essential oil really does earn its title as the “king” of essential oils. It’s relaxing and health-supporting properties are a fantastic addition to any wellness routine. As always, please let us know if you have any questions.
