O'ahu Doula Notes: "3 Books You Need to Read in Pregnancy"

February 8, 2018

Aloha Parents!

It’s SO nice to be back in 2018 with a fresh blog running list.  I had a great list last year too, but being consistent with writing articles was NOT one of the marvelous features of 2017.  Whoops.  Last year, Malama Momma was all about the doula services.  I think at one stage over the summer, I had 6 clients due over 6 weeks.  Yikes!  That’s not the norm.

For 2018, my amazing husband, Brad, is taking over the Malama Mondays so I can focus on the O’ahu Doula Notes.  He is the greatest.

This week, I want to talk to you about 3 books I recommend you read and refer to often during your childbearing year:

  1. “Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth” by legendary midwife, Ina May Gaskin

  2. “The Birth Partner” by legendary physical therapist turned doula, Penny Simkin

  3. “Essential Oils for Pregnancy, Birth & Babies” by The Essential Midwife, Stephanie Fritz.

Each of these books have impacted me personally on my maternity and doula journey.  I’ve vlogged (video blogged) about each of them.  Enjoy!

Want to know which book I keep in my doula bag? I refer to this book during most of the births I attend.  Join me LIVE on my Malama Momma  Faceboook page to find out!  You'll be able to catch the replay there too.

Read all the books you can get your hands on.  When you have more knowledge, you’ll feel more empowered to stand up for what you want in your birth.  My hope for you is that after reading “The Birth Partner” and “Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth”, you know what type of birth experience you want.

See you next week. We have a special guest that offers services here on O’ahu and online.  You’ll love her.  I do too.

Enjoy geeking out, mommas and daddys!

Jenna
